My experience with Brandcom started as a cost-saving experiment. Thanks to some smart work, by my small team it grew into its line of business. At the most basic level, this was asset creation. When you add in the fact that these vehicles only existed as CAD data, that's when it got interesting. Add to that the requirement that images be versioned for use by markets around the world. That's when interesting becomes complex and that's where the challenge begins.
Sonic/Aveo was our second project. This video helped launch Sonic at the Paris Auto Show. Perhaps the greatest virtue of CGI motion for this sort of global project is the fact that once constructed, it was an effortless task to configure versions that were product-correct for multiple markets worldwide.
This video is a compilation that tells our story best.
For four years we completed numerous asset packages for all global vehicles. We experimented and improved our process while maintaining consistency throughout. We spent extra time vetting our vendors and working with only the best. In that time we had a very good pool of vendors who sought us out for projects that challenged them.
We worked very hard to find environments that were both beautiful and global.
As the client's desire to add people to shots increased we came up with realistic solutions.
We delivered editable files with user-friendly instructions so each market could create its versions of the images to be product-correct. We rendered out versions to support not only lead colors per market but all available colors and trims.
Often our images were the first marketing materials that were available globally.
As proof of concept, we always generated ads both print and digital to help show markets how to use our assets.
For Malibu, we had many technical features to illustrate but we were able to show them in a very natural way.
This motion piece was for a car built in Brazil and Russia.
When we had math data and other information for soft parts such as airbags, we could add them into engineering stories.
After four successful years of creating images globally for Chevrolet, we began to get cross-divisional projects like Silverado/Sierra. The desire was for much more technical stories and our experience rendering parts and using dynamic cutaways was perfect.
